Imperial Tobacco Invests Billions in Poland's Tarnów-Podgórz Factory
Poland's Imperial Tobacco plans to invest over 1.5 billion złoty ($372 million) in its Tarnowo Podgórne factory and further automation.

According to a report by ISBnews on January 25, Sandra Magdziak, the Director of the Tarnów-Podgórz Factory of the Polish Empire Tobacco Company and the head of the Imperial Tobacco Company in Poland, revealed information during a speech at ISBtech. She stated that Imperial Tobacco has already invested over 1.5 billion zlotys (approximately 372 million USD) in the Tarnów-Podgórz Factory and plans to further invest in order to achieve goals of equipment automation and sustainable development.

According to Mandiak, the total investment of the company in the Tarnow-Podgórze factory has exceeded 1.5 billion zlotys. Located in Poznan, this factory is the largest among Imperial Brands' over 20 factories worldwide, and it boasts the most advanced production facilities within the entire company. Its significance extends beyond the company, as it holds great value for the local community and has become one of the most important employers in the province.

In the past few years, the Imperial Tobacco Company has embarked on a large-scale modernization project at the Poznan Tarnov-Bodgoni Factory, which includes expanding the size of production workshops, constructing a brand-new, fully automated high-capacity warehouse, and continuously enhancing the factory's production capabilities. Currently, the facility is equipped with world-leading equipment that enables the production of 1000 cigarette packs per minute.

Mandy Yak, spokesperson, stated, "We plan to further automate our processes, including the introduction of additional collaborative robots and automated workflows. We will also enhance information flow and process management. Additionally, we have proactive plans for personnel training to adapt to the production line overhaul in the third year of this five-year investment plan.

She also stated that the company will actively invest in the implementation of sustainable development solutions in the coming years. As the Imperial Tobacco Company of Poland, they will achieve the ambitious goals set by the group, aiming to reduce energy consumption by 25% by 2025, compared to the benchmark level of 2017. By 2030, the company plans to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions, meaning that the energy consumption directly used by the company will be zero.

Furthermore, Imperial Tobacco plans to expand its investments in Poland, including the establishment of a supply chain center in Warsaw and a business services center in Krakow.

Special Report | Middle East Military Conflict Disrupts Global Air Corridors: Europe-Bound Vape Logistics Defy Seasonal Price Declines, Fuel Cost Risks Emerge
Escalating tensions involving Iran are disrupting air transit routes heavily used for China’s vape exports to Europe, preventing the usual post–Lunar New Year freight rate decline. While Europe-bound capacity reliant on Middle East hubs faces pressure, shipments to the United States remain largely unaffected for now. However, potential jet fuel price increases could broaden cost pressures globally.
