Italian Authorities Crack Down on Tobacco and E-cigarette Websites
Italian authorities regulate 853 websites selling tobacco and e-cigarette products, requiring adjustments by May 23 to avoid closure.

According to a recent report by Sigmagazine, the Italian Customs and Monopoly Agency (Adm) is monitoring websites that sell tobacco and e-cigarette products within the country. Following the addition of 46 new addresses, the total number of websites banned by Adm has reached 853.

 

Affected companies should make adaptive adjustments before May 23 to avoid having their domain names shut down.

 

Most of them were banned due to illegal tobacco sales, including online stores, street vendors, and display places selling e-cigarettes and e-cigarette liquid. The notified companies were required to adjust their stance by May 23, removing products or items that cannot be accessed by the public on their websites, including disposable e-cigarettes and e-liquid pods.

 

The city of Turin in Italy recently implemented a regulation that prohibits e-cigarette products from being advertised through commercial discounts or flyers and posters in stores. However, businesses are allowed to showcase the technical features of the devices or the flavors of aromatic blends. They are not permitted to include comments or subjective phrases intended to attract consumer curiosity or attention.
