Jordanian Government Imposes New Taxes on E-cigarette Products

Jordan's new government stands by decision to increase taxes on e-cigarette products, sparking widespread debate among lawmakers and businesses.

According to reports on October 10th, the office of Jordanian Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan stated that the new government will not reverse the decisions made by the previous government two days before its resignation. These decisions will result in an increase in the prices, taxes, and tariffs on all types of e-cigarette products.

This decision has sparked widespread discussion. Some newly elected members of parliament have promised to support e-cigarette industry demands, leading to the issue becoming a hot topic of political and parliamentary debate.

The Jordanian "2024 Amendment No. 62 Special Tax Law" stipulates that the new tax regulations apply to e-cigarettes and related products.

E-cigarette devices are taxed at 15.00 Algerian dinars ($21) each; e-cigarette liquid is taxed at 5.00 Algerian dinars ($7) per milliliter; and e-cigarette devices or accessories without e-liquid are taxed at 1.00 Algerian dinars ($1.4).
