Kyrgyzstan Government Approves Resolution to Increase Tobacco and e-cigarette Prices
Kyrgyzstan government approves resolution to raise minimum prices for tobacco and e-cigarettes, aiming to improve public health and increase revenue.

According to a report from 24.kg on December 28th, the Kyrgyzstan government recently approved a resolution to increase the minimum prices of tobacco products and e-cigarettes. This move is aimed at improving public health conditions and increasing national revenue.


From January 1, 2025, the minimum price will be set at:


Each pack of cigarettes (20 sticks) costs 110 soms (1.3 US dollars); each pack of HNB tobacco (IQOS) costs 110 soms (1.3 US dollars); disposable e-cigarettes (each) start at 350 soms (4 US dollars); e-cigarettes (each) cost 1,400 soms (16 US dollars). According to this resolution, starting from 2026, the price per pack of cigarettes and HNB tobacco will increase by 10 soms (0.1 US dollars), with the minimum price rising to 120 soms (1.4 US dollars).


In addition, the President of Kyrgyzstan has signed a new law that will ban the import and use of e-cigarettes starting from July 1, 2025. According to the document, the importation, distribution, and use of e-cigarettes will be prohibited, with individuals caught using e-cigarettes facing a fine of 100 calculation indices (equivalent to $115 USD), and legal entities facing a fine of 600 calculation indices (approximately $695 USD). Individuals selling e-cigarettes will be fined 200 calculation indices (equivalent to $230 USD), while legal entities will be fined 650 calculation indices (equivalent to $750 USD). Importing e-cigarettes will result in labor reform lasting from two months to one year or a maximum fine of 1200 calculation points (1390 US dollars). Importing e-cigarettes on a large scale could result in a fine of up to 2000 calculation points (2300 US dollars), or a sentence of one to two years in prison.
