Kyrgyzstan Parliament Proposes Amendments to Laws on Tobacco and Nicotine
Kyrgyzstan Parliament proposed amendments to criminal and penal codes to protect citizens from tobacco and nicotine, sparking public debate.

According to akipress report on April 11, the Kyrgyzstan parliament submitted amendments to the Criminal Code and Penal Code in February to protect citizens' health from tobacco, nicotine, and exposure to smoke. These amendments, proposed by MP Shairbek Tashiev, are currently open for public discussion.

 

The legislator proposed to ban the import of e-cigarettes containing special e-liquid. Offenders will face fines ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 som (1683 to 2244 US dollars) or one to two years of imprisonment.

 

At the same time, smoking e-cigarettes in non-designated areas will be prohibited, with individuals facing fines of 40,000 som (448 USD) and legal entities facing fines of 60,000 som (673 USD) for violations.

 

Individuals selling e-cigarettes with pods will be fined 50,000 som (561 USD), while corporate entities will be fined 65,000 som (729 USD).
