According to a report from the Philippines Department of Health on April 29, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) intercepted over 2.5 kilograms of kush and 70 e-cigarettes containing cannabis oil at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. The estimated value of the seized items is 3.55 million pesos (61,519 US dollars).
The airport director, Yasmin Mapa, stated that on April 26, prohibited items were found during X-ray and K9 inspections of five packages originating from the United States and Canada. These packages were declared as car seat covers, coffee cups, and books.
After conducting laboratory tests and confirmations on samples collected from the prohibited items, it was found that they contained cannabis (kush), and the e-cigarette contained cannabis oil.
Mapa stated that the recipient will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
