Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Warns Against Marijuana-flavored E-Cigarettes
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) warns against e-cigarettes with cannabis oil, as illegal market grows rapidly, posing health risks.

According to a report by GMA on March 17, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has issued a warning to the public to avoid using e-cigarette products containing cannabis oil, emphasizing that this is illegal. Over the weekend, the PDEA stated in a release that they have noticed a sharp increase in the number of cannabis-flavored e-cigarettes in the Philippine market during recent anti-illegal drug operations.

On March 14th, two suspects were arrested in two separate anti-drug operations in Taguig City. The operations resulted in the seizure of marijuana oil and marijuana products, as well as various e-cigarette devices worth 842,000 pesos (15,131.6 USD). Additionally, last week, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Customs Bureau intercepted 18 boxes containing marijuana oil and marijuana-flavored e-cigarettes worth 337 million pesos (605,000 USD) at the Manila port area.

The sales and smuggling of cannabis oil indicate a growing demand for these products domestically. Considering that e-cigarette culture is mainly popular among young people, we are concerned that these cannabis extracts may be fraudulently sold as legal e-cigarettes in the market to young customers.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has issued a serious warning to the public not to purchase e-cigarettes containing marijuana, as this poses health risks and, more importantly, is explicitly prohibited by law.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced that they will enhance monitoring efforts on the online and offline sale of marijuana-flavored e-cigarettes and related stores. They also called on regulatory agencies to implement stricter measures on e-cigarette shops, retailers, and importers to prevent the use of prohibited substances.
