
According to a report by the local Japanese media outlet jp.news on January 23rd, PMI Japan Company (headquartered in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, with CEO Shigeru, hereinafter referred to as PMJ) and Philip Morris International (PMI) based in Lausanne, Switzerland (hereinafter referred to as PMI) have received the "Top Employer" certification from the "Top Employers Institute" in Amsterdam, Netherlands. They have officially announced this honor.
This signifies that for PMI, they have received the "Top Employer Global" certification for the eighth consecutive year, while PMJ has been awarded the "Top Employer" certification in Japan for five years in a row.
In various companies across 31 countries around the world, PMI and PMJ have been selected as two of the 17 companies to receive accreditation for the year 2024.
The Top Employers Institute is an independent organization that specializes in evaluating the human resources systems and employment environments of global companies. Its evaluation scope covers aspects such as employment environment, recruitment, talent development and education, employee benefits, diversity, and inclusivity. During this certification process, the company's six areas of human resources - driving force, organizational formation capability, incentive force, cultivation capability, unity force, and engagement level - were all reviewed.
PMI, a global company with over 79,000 employees, sells smoke-free products in 82 markets worldwide. PMJ, a subsidiary of PMI, operates in Japan and is responsible for promoting and marketing PMI's products in the Japanese market. With approximately 1,600 employees, PMJ holds a market share of approximately 37.6% in the Japanese tobacco market. As of the end of 2022, PMJ stands as the second-largest tobacco company driving the heated tobacco market in Japan.
