Recent Nielsen Data: Vuse and Juul Battle for Market Share
According to Journalnow, Nielsen's latest convenience store data shows Vuse maintaining a 42% market share, while Juul's share dropped to 24.2%.

According to a recent report by American media outlet Journalnow, the latest convenience store data from Nielsen reveals that Vuse, a brand under British-American Tobacco, maintained a market share of 42% in December. In contrast, Juul, ranked second, saw its market share decline from 24.3% to 24.2%. There was no change in the market share of NJoy, which is owned by Altria Group, remaining at 2.6%. Blu, a brand under Imperial Tobacco, also remained unchanged at 1.2%.

It is worth noting that the entire e-cigarette category has experienced a decline of 9.9%.

The Nielsen report primarily focuses on major chain stores, R.J. Reynolds Vapor Co., and Altria Group, who are pushing for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to strengthen enforcement measures against "illegal" nicotine e-cigarettes in the American market.

Both companies estimate that these illicit products make up approximately half of the share in the US e-cigarette market.

As Regulators Focus on Nicotine Pouch Child Safety, Safeguard Pursues an External Packaging Route
As regulators pay closer attention to child safety in nicotine pouches, manufacturers face a practical challenge: how to strengthen child-resistant packaging without unnecessarily reworking products, production lines and regulatory submissions already in place. In a written interview with 2Firsts, Chemular detailed Safeguard’s external packaging approach, its customer-specific testing requirements and possible PMTA pathways. The model remains early-stage, but it offers a new way to think about an increasingly important regulatory and manufacturing issue.

China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. has filed a patent application for a cellulose-free scaffold material for nicotine pouches, proposing a combination of bioceramic material, polydextrose and sugar alcohols to replace conventional microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose derivatives. New Zealand Associate Health Minister Casey Costello Warns on Illicit Cigarettes as Legal Tobacco Sales Halve Over Decade
New Zealand Associate Health Minister Casey Costello said legal tobacco sales in the country have fallen by more than half over the past decade, with sales declining more than 20% in 2025 compared with the previous year. She warned that the decline may not fully reflect lower smoking rates, as increased availability of illicit cigarettes could also be contributing. The government said it would continue strengthening tobacco and vape retail enforcement while monitoring the impact of illicit tobacco on public health and tax revenue.

According to recent LinkedIn posts from people at VAPORESSO, SMOORE and a German distribution partner, vape brand DOJO will begin rolling out a new global brand identity on September 1, 2026, led by a redesigned handwritten logo. The new visual system will be gradually applied across product packaging, marketing materials and digital assets over the following months.
