Regulations Planned to Monitor E-Cigarettes in Spain

Spain plans to regulate e-cigarettes as they are found to be harmful, especially among teenagers, according to Health Minister Mónica García.

According to a report by the Spanish news agency on December 28th, the Minister of Health of Spain, Mónica García, has announced plans to regulate e-cigarettes.

Monica Garcia emphasized that "e-cigarettes may seem like toys, but they are actually harmful to health and often serve as a gateway to smoking.

The decision by the Spanish Ministry of Health was made following the release of the first preliminary study on tobacco, alcohol, and potential addictive behavior among 12-13 year-old adolescents.

The study, conducted by the National Drug Plan (PNSD) government agency, reveals that one out of every four adolescents has tried an e-cigarette, with 10%-12% having done so in the previous month.

This is not Monica Garcia's first public discussion about the issue of e-cigarette users. She emphasized the need to establish regulations in order to comply with tobacco laws.
