According to The National.Scot reported on July 10th, Scotland's largest music festival will conduct searches for disposable e-cigarettes due to a ban.
The TRNSMT music festival will take place this weekend in Glasgow Green Park. The ban on disposable e-cigarettes started last year and the festival organizers have stated that they are increasing efforts to improve the issue of littering on site.
Music festival director Jeff Ellis expressed his hope that attendees of the three-day event will "leave only footprints" at the end of the festival. Surveillance cameras and police dogs will be stationed at the festival entrance and throughout the park for security checks.
When asked about the ease of enforcing the ban on disposable e-cigarettes, the official stated,
Yes. I think this is an issue of communication. If you convey information to people, they will listen. If you tell them not to bring something, they often won't bring it.
We have a rather strict search system at the entrance, with staff conducting searches.
Last year, the Glastonbury Music Festival added disposable e-cigarettes to the list of prohibited items.
In February of this year, the Scottish government confirmed plans to ban the use of disposable e-cigarettes by April 2025, citing health and environmental concerns.
The TRNSMT music festival is Scotland's largest music festival, a non-camping event that runs for three days from July 12th to 14th, from noon to 11pm each day.
