Singapore Health Science Bureau Arrests 176 E-Cigarette Offenders

176 individuals were caught holding e-cigarettes at a music festival in Singapore; they face fines and confiscation.

According to a report by Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on December 8th, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) disclosed on November 8th that a total of 176 individuals in possession of e-cigarettes were apprehended during a music festival event over the course of two days. According to a press release, the offenders, aged between 18 and 51, will face fines, and all confiscated e-cigarettes will be seized.

The Health Ministry has issued a warning stating that it is illegal for individuals to possess, use, or purchase e-cigarettes, with a maximum penalty of $2000. Authorities have also declared their commitment to taking strong enforcement actions against any illegal activities, such as the illegal sale of prohibited e-cigarettes, without hesitation.

According to official data from the Ministry of Health, the number of individuals apprehended for using and owning e-cigarettes in 2022 reached 4916, nearly three times higher than the 1266 recorded in 2020.
