South Korea's Smoking Rate Decreases While E-cig Usage Rises in 2024 Survey

According to recent reports by KDCA, tobacco product use in South Korea increased to 22.6% in 2024.

According to a recent report by DT, the Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) released the results of a 2024 health survey, showing that the use of tobacco products among the South Korean population is at 22.6%, an increase of 0.4% from 2023. The rate among men decreased by 0.2% to 39.7%, while among women it increased by 0.3% to 5.2%.

The smoking rate among men has decreased from 41.6% in 2015 to 34.0% in 2024, while the rate among women has increased from 2.7% to 3.9%.

The usage of e-cigarettes has increased from 5.1% in 2019 to 8.7% in 2024. The percentage of male users has risen from 9.4% in 2019 to 14.8%, while female users have also seen an increase from 1.0% to 2.5%.
