Southampton Police Raid Uncovers £100,000 Worth of Illegal Tobacco

Southampton police raid shops, seize £100k worth of illegal e-cigarettes and cigarettes, potentially unsafe, calls for further action.

According to a report by the Daily Echo on September 25th, Southampton police raided several shops and seized 1700 illegal e-cigarettes and 2000 illegal cigarettes, with a total value of approximately £100,000. The Southampton City Council stated that these illegal products could be "very unsafe.

It has been reported that last week, the Hertfordshire police collaborated with the trading standards team of the county council and seized 99 bottles of e-cigarette liquid. These items were discovered during a joint inspection of a shop with the trading standards team, and the shop is currently under investigation.

The operations director of the local e-cigarette shop Tidal Vape, Ben Richardson, expressed his full support for the actions taken by the police and city authorities in confiscating thousands of illegal e-cigarettes and cigarettes. He called for further action to remove these illegal products from the market.
