Police Seize £50,000 Worth of Illegal Tobacco Products

Police in Oldham seized £50,000 worth of illegal tobacco products in a joint operation, with the help of sniffer dogs.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News on September 5th, the police in the city of Oldham, UK, seized illegal tobacco products worth £50,000 in a joint operation.

During this operation, specially trained drug-sniffing dogs Skye and Louie assisted law enforcement officers in seizing over 78,000 illegal imported cigarettes, 11 kilograms of loose-leaf tobacco, and 2,578 non-compliant disposable e-cigarette products. The seized e-cigarette products included products from the e-cigarette brand "HAYATI".

The police received a tip-off about children buying unauthorized e-cigarettes, leading to surprise inspections of 9 stores.

Smoking and the dangers of it, as well as the illegal trade of tobacco, have been a problem for many years. However, in recent years, we have noticed a growing presence of illegal e-cigarettes on the streets. These e-cigarettes not only contain illegal levels of nicotine, but they also target young people, which is unacceptable. Selling e-cigarettes to those under 18 is not only against the law, but we will also continue to conduct raids and confiscations throughout the area.
