Thai Authorities Seize Over 47,000 E-Cigarettes Worth $300,000
Thai DSI seizes over 47,000 e-cigarettes worth $300,000 in a joint operation with customs authorities in Chumphon.

On December 24, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) in Thailand announced that authorities had seized over 47,000 e-cigarettes in Lamchabang Port, Sriracha District of Chonburi Province, with a value of over 10 million Thai Baht (approximately 300,000 USD).

On December 22nd, the Customs Department and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) conducted a joint operation to inspect a batch of suspicious containers located at the Laem Chabang Port. Prior to this, they had received information that e-cigarettes may be hidden in goods imported from other countries. During the inspection, law enforcement officers discovered a total of over 47,495 disposable e-cigarettes, worth more than 10 million Thai baht (approximately 300,000 US dollars). Images provided by the DSI showed that the packaging of the products suspected to be related to brands such as esko bar, spaceman, and salthub.

The batch of e-cigarettes has been seized and the case has been handed over to the Lim Chabang Customs Office for legal proceedings.

In 2024, the Linchaban Customs Office has seized a total of 25,690 e-cigarettes in 9 cases, with a total value exceeding 11.9 million Thai Baht (approximately $350,000).

Since December 12, 2014, e-cigarettes have been classified as prohibited imports by the Thai government.
