
According to VIVA's report on May 15th, Indonesia's MaLang Customs and Surabaya Customs have both destroyed evidence goods of customs and tax violators within their vertical management units framework to ensure transparent sanctions and deterrence effects.
The Director of Public Relations and Consultation Bureau at the Customs Department, Encep Dudi Ginanjar, stated, "Indeed, the destruction activities are a joint effort between us and various agencies at all levels to constantly eliminate the products of illegal tobacco and alcohol.
According to documents obtained from the Indonesian National Customs Agency, the Marang Customs destroyed 1,020,000 illegal cigarettes and 374.20 liters of illegal beverages containing ethanol. The destruction took place at the Marang County incineration site on May 14th and 15th.
On the other hand, the Surabaya Customs carried out a destruction operation at the No. 2 landfill site located in Klojotok City. The destruction was recorded on May 8th, with a total of 16.41 million illegal cigarettes and 88.8 liters of illegal beverages destroyed. This destruction operation is a thorough disposal of illegal goods seized by the Surabaya Customs throughout the year.
The total value of the above-mentioned destruction activities amounted to 22,041,748,920 rupees (approximately 1.17 billion RMB), with a total potential national loss of 11,772,044,336 rupees (approximately 62.87 million RMB).
