Vietnamese Police Seize 2219 Illegally-Sourced E-cigarette Products

Vietnamese police seize over 2,200 unidentified e-cigarette and e-liquid products in a surprise inspection in Lang Son City.

According to the local Vietnamese media outlet thuonghieucongluan, on January 5th, the police in Lang Son City, Vietnam, seized 2219 unidentified e-cigarette and e-cigarette liquid products during a surprise inspection operation.

The police in Luoshan City recently conducted surprise inspections on shops located within its jurisdiction. During the inspection process, law enforcement agencies discovered a significant quantity of e-cigarettes and e-liquid being sold at the inspected premises, including 755 bottles of e-cigarette e-liquid, 870 e-cigarette heads, and 594 pod systems in various colors. In total, 2219 pieces of e-cigarette products were found.

During the inspection, the shop owner was unable to provide invoices and documents proving the origin of all the goods. They claimed to have easily purchased these items on social media platforms in order to resell them for profit.

In response, law enforcement authorities have documented and temporarily detained all non-compliant products, in order to initiate an investigation and proceed with legal proceedings as prescribed by the law.

Belarus Proposes 20% Tax Increase on Vaping Products and Nicotine Items

Belarus will increase excise taxes in 2026 on vapes, liquids for electronic smoking systems, and non-tobacco nicotine products, with a proposed 20% rise aimed at aligning these rates with traditional cigarettes. Electronic smoking devices and heated tobacco systems will also be added to the list of excisable goods. Excise taxes on filtered cigarettes and heated tobacco will rise by 7% and 3% respectively.

Hounslow Crackdown Seizes £33,000 of Illegal Vapes and Combustible Cigarettes

Hounslow Council’s Trading Standards team, working with Metropolitan Police units, conducted test purchases across the borough and found seven premises selling illegal tobacco. Subsequent raids at 16 premises in Chiswick, Feltham and Hounslow High Street seized 4,859 illegal vapes (≈£30,000), 3,806 combustible cigarettes (≈£3,000), 16kg of shisha and 11kg of chewing tobacco. Offences included oversized tanks, over-strength nicotine, and unregistered products.
