BAT Launches Synthetic Nicotine Vape 'Nomad Sync 5000' in South Korea
BAT has launched its synthetic nicotine vape product "Nomad Sync 5000" in South Korea for the first time. The device features 10ml of e-liquid with a nicotine concentration of 0.9%, offering up to 5,000 puffs. It is available in two colors and priced at $12.

British American Tobacco (BAT) will be launching its synthetic nicotine e-cigarette product "Nomad Sync 5000" in the South Korean market for the first time, according to a report by N.News on November 25th.

BAT's South Korean subsidiary has revealed that the new e-liquid product has a capacity of 10 milliliters and a nicotine content of 0.9%, allowing for up to 5000 puffs. It comes in two flavors, "Purple" and "Cold," with a suggested retail price of around 17,000 Korean won (12 USD).

According to reports, BAT chose to launch "Nomad" in South Korea partly because there is a regulatory gap in the country. Under the current Tobacco Business Act in South Korea, only products made from tobacco leaves are defined as tobacco. Therefore, synthetic nicotine products do not fall under this category and are not subject to related tobacco regulations. As a result, synthetic nicotine products do not have to pay tobacco consumption taxes and other related fees, allowing them to be sold cheaper than traditional tobacco or heated tobacco products. Additionally, selling to minors does not result in penalties, and there is no requirement to include warning labels or images.

A company official said: "Despite the absence of specific regulations on synthetic nicotine in South Korea's Tobacco Business Act, we plan to voluntarily comply with the country's domestic tobacco regulations outside of the synthetic nicotine industry norms."

"The reason for the launch of South Korea's first synthetic nicotine e-cigarette 'Nomad' is because South Korea is the only OECD country that applies different laws to synthetic nicotine e-cigarettes and natural nicotine e-cigarettes."
