Polish Health Minister Proposes Ban on Synthetic Nicotine Pouches
Polish Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna aims to ban synthetic nicotine pouches, hoping for law preparation within the year.

According to TVP Info on November 8th, Polish Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna stated in an interview with the media that she hopes the bill banning the sale of synthetic nicotine pouches will be ready by the end of this year.

“We hope to completely ban their sale. I hope this project will be ready by the end of the year.”

The minister admitted on Friday (November 8th) when questioned by TVP Info about the use of nicotine pouches by young people, saying, "This is a problem.”

She explained, "Traditional oral snuff contains tobacco. It is prohibited in the EU directive and also in our country. What we are talking about are nicotine pouches containing synthetic nicotine, which are reappearing. They will be banned in the legislation we are currently drafting, as they can only be considered medical products.”

When asked about when the parliament will debate the bill, the Health Minister stated that this largely depends on consultations.

“The legislative process is ongoing. Nicotine pouches containing synthetic nicotine will be banned.”
