According to a report by Nsctotal on July 11th, the Brazilian Federal Police (PF) seized 10,600 Brazilian reais (approximately $1948.57 USD) in cash, around 500 e-cigarettes, 256 types of fragrances, 144 energy drinks, and other foreign goods in an operation in Chapecó city.

The operation called "PODs X-ONE" aims to crack down on the smuggling and illegal sales of e-cigarettes. According to police reports, four search and seizure orders were carried out this Thursday (11th), with two conducted in residences and the other two executed in commercial establishments.

The suspects will be charged with smuggling and could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

According to reports, the investigation by the PF began in March of this year after receiving relevant clues on the Brazilian Federal Public Policy Transparency Platform Fala.BR. Police further revealed that the confiscated products were being illegally sold through online channels and in stores in the western district of São Paulo.

The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the import, sale, distribution, storage, transportation, and promotion of e-cigarettes.
