BAT acquires state-owned shares of UZBAT in Uzbekistan for $22.3 million
British American Tobacco (BAT) acquires state-owned shares of UZBAT, a joint venture in Uzbekistan, for $22.3 million.

On October 15, 2025, according to АН Po drobno.uz, British American Tobacco (BAT) has acquired the state-owned shares of the joint venture UZBAT from the Uzbekistan State Asset Management Agency through an agreement on October 6, with the transaction amounting to 22.3 million US dollars.

 

BAT has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1994, with total investments exceeding $500 million over the years. UZBAT is the leading tobacco manufacturer in Uzbekistan, with its factory in Samarkand producing heated tobacco products since 2023.

 

UZBAT not only meets domestic demand, but also exports products to several countries including Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and South Korea, becoming a major exporter for the country.
