Dzulkefly Ahmad Appointed as Malaysia's Health Minister Again
Former Malaysian Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has been reappointed in the role, replacing Dr. Zaliha Mustafa in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's cabinet reshuffle.

According to a report by Codeblue on December 12, Malaysia's former Minister of Health, Dzulkefly Ahmad, has been appointed to the position of Minister of Health again in the cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He replaces Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, who has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister (Minister of Federal Territories).

Keeferi served as the Minister of Health for nearly two years in the government of Hope Alliance (PH) under the leadership of Mahathir Mohamad.

During the press conference, An Hua stated that the Ministry of Health bears significant pressure and requires experienced individuals to take charge. "We believe that Kefiri is capable of fulfilling this responsibility.

In the newly restructured Cabinet, Lukanisman Awang Sauni will continue to serve as the Deputy Minister of Health. Kefiri may relinquish his role as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health (PSSC) due to his new appointment.

During her one-year and ten-day tenure as Minister of Health, Zahraha made a significant policy decision to remove liquid and gel nicotine from the list of banned substances under the 1952 drug law. This decision has triggered a joint lawsuit from anti-tobacco groups, who accuse Zahraha of causing harm to public health.

The ban on tobacco and e-cigarette generation (GEG) has been lifted from the Public Health Tobacco Control Act, as deemed unconstitutional by Attorney General Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh.

In addition, Kefiri must promptly address the recent new requirements from the Ministry of Health for contract doctors and pharmacists (possibly including dentists), while also facing the issue of low morale in public health services.

2Firsts Data | China’s Vape Exports Rise 3.1% in H1 2026 as 6-Methyl Nicotine-Related Products Surge 65.2%
China’s vape exports showed resilience in the first half of 2026 after a short-term shock from China’s export rebate adjustment. But customs data points to more than a simple recovery: the structure of growth is changing. Vaping devices and atomization hardware emerged as the strongest growth driver, while nicotine-containing vaping products remained broadly stable. Meanwhile, nicotine substitute-related products represented by 6-methyl nicotine expanded rapidly, becoming a new category to watch for both industry and regulators. After the U.S. market went through a cycle of shortages, replenishment and inventory rebuilding in 2025, China’s vape supply chain is entering a new phase of reallocation.
