Government of Evanston, Illinois to Ban Sale of Flavored Tobacco
Evanston City Council votes to ban flavored cigarettes starting spring 2024, raises utility fees, delays budget decision.

Recently, according to a report by Dailynorthwestern, the city council of Evanston, Illinois has voted to ban the sale of all flavored cigarettes starting from the spring of 2024. Additionally, they have also raised utility costs and delayed the final decision on the city budget.

 

The ban on flavored tobacco products has been passed by parliament with a 6-3 vote. The ban is set to take effect on April 1st and will prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products, despite some lawmakers calling for certain products to be exempted from the ban.

 

Legislator Melissa Wynne informed the Daily News, "If we only prohibit e-cigarettes, tobacco companies have already commenced their exploration of novel products. The truly comprehensive approach would be to ban all flavors.
