Puerto Rico Proposes E-Cigarette Sales Ban Near Schools
Puerto Rican lawmaker submits bill to ban e-cigarette sales within 500 meters of schools, with violators facing $10,000 fines. The Treasury and Health Departments will be involved in the legislation.

3. The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Consumer Affairs will be involved in the legislation.

 

 

Edgar Robles, Puerto Rico Representative, introduced a bill to ban e-cigarette sales at commercial establishments within 500 meters of schools, citing concerns over rising use among young people."

 

Robles dismissed claims that e-cigarettes can help reduce dependence on traditional cigarettes, saying, "Among our young people, use and abuse have become the norm."

 

This proposal will regulate the sales and distribution of e-cigarettes, with violators facing fines of $10,000. Additionally, businesses will be required to display signs reminding them not to sell such products to minors.

 

Robles added that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs will be involved in this legislation.
