Russia to tighten e-cigarette rules with tenfold increase in fines for sales to minors

The Russian government plans a tenfold fine increase for e-cigarette sales to minors, stricter display penalties, and limits on flavor additives.

The Russian government plans to increase fines for selling e-cigarettes to minors tenfold, according to an October 31 PNP report. Artem Metelev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, expressed support for the measures.

He noted that although Russia prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes to minors, some irresponsible companies still seek to profit from such sales. Metelev revealed that the government supports a significant increase in fines for sales to minors, suggesting a tenfold increase. In addition, the government plans to introduce stricter penalties for unauthorized e-cigarette displays and proposes to limit the types of flavor additives allowed in e-cigarettes.
