According to a report from El Diario on February 18th, the Spanish police recently discovered a large quantity of e-cigarettes in a wholesale shop in the port area of Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria. These e-cigarettes did not meet the manufacturing, display, and sales requirements.
The police seized over 8000 e-cigarettes that do not comply with current laws and regulations at a wholesale store. These products were found to have issues such as foreign labels, non-compliance with health regulations, re-labelling, and significantly exceeding the nicotine content limit. The police have reported the situation to the Public Health Department of the Canary Islands government.
Police remind consumers to pay attention when purchasing these products, to check if the goods come with instructions in Spanish, nicotine content not exceeding 2% mg, approximately 700 puffs per inhalation, and a detailed information manual included in the product. Labels should also have a warning stating "This product contains nicotine, a highly addictive substance. Not recommended for non-smokers.
