Vietnam Police Bust Cigarette Smuggling Ring in the South

Vietnamese police successfully foiled a cigarette smuggling operation in the southern region, arresting two suspects and seizing 9990 packs.

According to a report by Vietnam's National Radio on February 11, Vietnamese authorities conducted an operation to crack down on cigarette smuggling in the southern part of the country. They successfully uncovered a case of cigarette smuggling and arrested two suspects on the scene, seizing 9,990 packs of smuggled cigarettes. The cigarettes involved various brands, including Jet, Hero, and Scott.

According to preliminary investigations by police, the suspect N.N.T (born in 1971, residing in a city in Vietnam) admitted to purchasing this batch of smuggled cigarettes from an unidentified stranger and hiding them in his home in an attempt to resell them for profit. Another suspect, L.T.H (born in 1984, residing in a city in Vietnam), was hired by N.N.T to assist in the transportation of the smuggled cigarettes.

Currently, the case is still under further investigation.
