Brazil Senate to Resume E-Cigarette Regulation Bill Discussions in November
Brazil's e-cigarette regulation bill (PL 5.008/2023) is under review by the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, set to resume in November.

According to a report by Jovempan on September 25th, a bill regarding the regulation of e-cigarettes (PL 5.008/2023) is currently under review by the Senate Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) in Brazil. It is planned to be put back on the agenda in November after the end of the election schedule.

The bill was introduced by Senator Soraya Thronicke (Podemos-MS) to authorize the production, sale, import, and use of e-cigarettes, and establish regulations for their control, supervision, and advertising.

The Brazilian Senate's Economic Affairs Committee has repeatedly postponed discussions on the proposal and has not included it in the agenda for recent meetings. It is expected that debates on the bill will continue in various committees of the Senate, including the Social Affairs Committee responsible for analyzing the public health impact and the Consumer Protection Committee.
