Brazilian Congress to Vote on E-Cigarette Legislation Next Week

A bill on e-cigarettes will be on the agenda in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies this week.

According to a report by Midianinja on June 10th, this week's agenda in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies will also include a discussion on a bill regarding e-cigarettes.

In the Senate, the Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE) may vote on a bill to regulate e-cigarettes on Tuesday, the 11th.

In Brazil, Anvisa has prohibited the sale, import and advertising of these tobacco products since 2009.

HM Revenue & Customs is urging members of the public to report vape shops, barber shops and other high-street businesses suspected of tax fraud, money laundering or other illegal activity, with informants not required to provide personal details. HMRC plans more than 30,000 interventions in 2026-27 targeting tax fraud, organised crime and illicit activity, including the sale of illegal vapes and tobacco. U.S. Military Could Test Nicotine Pouches and Vapes for Smoking Cessation as Washington Examiner Cites ZYN and Potential $4 Billion Reduction in Related Defense Costs

The House-passed FY2027 National Defense Authorization Act includes a provision authorizing the defense secretary to conduct a one-year smoking-cessation pilot for active-duty service members. Section 707 lists counseling, nicotine gum and patches alongside what the bill calls "electric nicotine delivery systems," nicotine pouches and heat-not-burn products. A recent Washington Examiner op-ed cited ZYN as an example in arguing for the provision, but the legislation does not name any commercial brand or supplier. ZYN is made by PMI-owned Swedish Match USA, with specified products holding FDA marketing authorizations and modified risk orders.
