Indian police seize $36,000 worth of illegal e-cigarettes
Indian police seized $36,000 worth of e-cigarettes disguised as jewellery in a major crackdown, according to Lokmat Times.

The Indian police have seized a batch of e-cigarettes worth around 3 million rupees (36,000 USD) in a major crackdown, according to the Lokmat Times on 23 October. The e-cigarettes were being operated under the guise of a jewellery shop.

 

The Criminal Investigation Bureau said its second division received a tip-off that a suspect had brought a large quantity of unauthorised e-cigarettes into the market for distribution and sale. Based on this information, the police led a team to conduct a surprise inspection of shops selling these products.

 

During the raid, police found a box of 200 e-cigarettes in the shop. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had stored the rest of the e-cigarettes in his apartment and sold them to customers on demand. The Criminal Investigation Department seized 800 e-cigarettes from the apartment. A total of 3 million rupees (36,000 USD) worth of e-cigarettes were seized during the operation.
