PMI Innovation Conference in Abu Dhabi: Promoting Smoke-Free Future
Philip Morris International (PMI) held a technology innovation conference in Abu Dhabi, showcasing new tobacco products and health benefits.

According to a report by Kaktus.Media on December 23rd, Philip Morris International (PMI) recently held a technology innovation international conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting, PMI provided a detailed overview of its development history, focusing on the turning point in 2014 when it launched its first heated tobacco device. The company executives showcased data on smoking cessation and adoption of new tobacco products in various regions across the globe, with particular emphasis on the outstanding performance in countries such as Sweden, Switzerland, and Japan.

President of Philip Morris International (PMI) for South Asia, Southeast Asia, the CIS, the Middle East, and North Africa, Fred de Wilde, revealed the commercial benefits of PMI's promotion of the concept "If you don't smoke, don't start; if you smoke, quit; if you don't quit, change" in an interview with Kaktus.Media. He emphasized that the promotion of new tobacco products is not only beneficial for the company but also helps to improve public health levels.

PMI presented a two-year study at the conference, which covered 37 healthcare facilities from Europe and Asia, with a total of 900 participants. The results showed that individuals using new tobacco products experienced similar health improvements as those who quit smoking, while the health of those who continued smoking deteriorated significantly.

When discussing legislation in Central Asia, the official pointed out that the regulation of e-cigarettes in the region is aimed at preventing minors from accessing the products. However, he also mentioned that if suitable alternatives are not provided for adult smokers, it could lead to an increase in cigarette consumption. In response, PMI emphasized that their products are only sold to registered and confirmed adult smokers to ensure strict control over the sales process.
