Proper Disposal Guidelines for E-cigarettes and Disposable Products

Disposable e-cigarette waste management guidelines issued by local German authorities emphasize proper disposal of e-cigarette products and accessories.

According to a recent report by the German newspaper "Lecklin Hausa", in recent years, e-cigarettes have gradually become a trend, with the popularity of disposable products also steadily rising. However, what should be done with these devices when they are damaged or used up?

The local service department in Germany, Lübeck's City Administration Service (KSR), provided a detailed explanation of this. KSR's waste consultant, Matthias Berger, stated:

Regardless of whether it is a disposable e-cigarette or a regular e-cigarette, they should never be thrown into regular trash bins. These devices contain batteries and must be disposed of at a material recycling center or designated sales points.

Sales outlets are responsible for freely recycling e-cigarettes and disposable e-cigarettes. This is because these obsolete electronic devices not only contain recyclable valuable materials, but may also contain harmful substances to the environment.

For reusable e-cigarette users who use liquid storage tanks, it is important to note that retailers are not obligated to take back unused e-liquid. This is because these liquids contain toxins that cannot be disposed of through drainage systems or household waste disposal. Instead, these e-liquids should be disposed of using KSR's environmentally-friendly transport vehicles. Completely empty e-liquid containers can be placed in recycling containers.
