According to a report from Volga.News on May 27th, the prosecutor's office in the Samara region of Russia has shut down 20 sales points of tobacco and nicotine-containing devices in the area. This notification was announced at the public council meeting in the region on Monday (27th).
The district's prosecutor, Anastasia Nikitina, stated during a meeting that reports from citizens about illegal tobacco sales near educational institutions have prompted local police and the prosecutor's office to conduct joint investigations. If tobacco and e-cigarettes are found to be sold illegally or to minors, a comprehensive investigation will be carried out and all illegal selling activities will be stopped.
The prosecutor visited each address and, in conjunction with local law enforcement, confirmed the fact of sales of tobacco and nicotine consumption systems. As a result, these sales points have now ceased operation. If tobacco products and e-cigarettes are found to be sold at illegal locations or to minors, I will report to the prosecutor's office and will investigate and take all necessary measures.
The director of the local medical prevention center, Alexander Muravets, pointed out the harm of e-cigarettes to minors. He stated that the ingredients of e-cigarette pods are not yet clear, and their harm to the human body, especially to minors, is significant, leading to lung damage and even potentially fatal diseases. He urged everyone to avoid contact with tobacco products as much as possible.
