Russia's Duma Speaker Calls for Review of Regulations: Public Health vs Business Interests

During a full session of the Russian State Duma, Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated that, in the interest of public health, it is necessary to review the current suspension of inspections of businesses, particularly retailers of tobacco and e-cigarettes, with regards to their supply to minors.

Bolokhin emphasized the importance of using temporary bans to crack down on enterprises such as "nalivayki" (small shops or stalls selling alcohol illegally in residential areas or public places). He raised concerns about the potential risks of harmful products being freely sold to children, expressing worries about the health of the population and the safety of children.

Wolokin is calling for the creation of a new proposal that distinguishes between commercial activities directly impacting public health and safety and the production of products for the nation. They are seeking to find a balance between economic development and citizen well-being.
