Sharp Increase in Hospitalizations Among UK's Young People Due to E-Cigarettes

E-cigarette-related hospitalizations in UK's under-20s surged 733% in past four years, NHS data reveals. Significant rise in children affected.

According to a report by the New York Post on April 22, the latest data from the UK's National Health Service (NHS) indicates that the number of people under the age of 20 in the UK who have been hospitalized due to e-cigarette use has increased by 733% over the past four years, starting from 2020.

According to statistical data, in 2020, out of 97 cases of hospitalized patients, 19 were children; in 2021, out of 300 hospitalized cases, 19 were children; this number further increased in 2022, with 5 out of 457 cases being children; in 2023, 50 children were hospitalized out of 365 cases, including 11 children under the age of 4.

Furthermore, the report also points out that the number of female patients hospitalized due to e-cigarette-related issues is increasing, growing by 57% compared to 2023.
