Brazilian Federal Police seize illegal e-cigarettes worth millions

Brazilian federal highway police discovered 44 boxes of e-cigarette devices with an estimated value of over 200,000 reais.

According to a report from Radio Cultura Foz on October 9th, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police (PRF) discovered 44 boxes of e-cigarette devices inside a truck's cargo hold, approximately 50,000 e-cigarettes in total. The market value of the seized e-cigarettes is estimated to be over 2 million Brazilian reais (36,000 US dollars).

In addition, the police also found 20 marijuana e-cigarettes. The driver stated that he was responsible for transporting these illegal goods from Paraguay to Curitiba in exchange for payment.

The truck driver has been arrested on the spot for charges including smuggling, tax evasion, and drug trafficking. The case has now been handed over to the Brazilian Federal Police and tax authorities in Ciudad del Este for further investigation.
